Privacy Policy for Pocket Census

Pocket Census ("the App") is developed as a tool for healthcare professionals to manage patient census and clinical records. Your privacy and the security of the data you manage are our top priorities.
1. Information Collection and Use
Pocket Census is designed to function primarily as a local-only database.
- Patient Data: Any information you enter regarding patients (including names, hospital IDs, diagnoses, medications, and procedures) is stored locally on your device using an internal database. We do not transmit, upload, or store this information on any external servers.
- Permissions: The App may request access to your device’s storage to save and export PDF reports and create database backups. These files are generated locally and remain under your total control.
2. Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services which may collect information used to identify you:
- Google Play Services: Used for app distribution, updates, and basic analytics.
- Google Play Billing: If you choose to support the developer through a "donation" or "tip," the transaction is processed entirely by Google Play. We do not see, collect, or store your credit card or financial information.
3. Data Storage and Security
- Local Storage: All clinical and patient data resides within the App's private storage on your mobile device.
- User Responsibility: Because the data is stored locally, it is the user’s responsibility to ensure their device is secured (e.g., using biometrics or a passcode) to prevent unauthorized access to patient information.
- Data Deletion: Uninstalling the App will permanently delete all patient records and clinical history stored within the App. We recommend using the "Backup" feature or exporting necessary reports to PDF before uninstalling.
4. Data Sharing
We do not share any patient data or personal information with third parties. Any sharing of patient information (e.g., sending a PDF census to a colleague) is initiated manually and exclusively by you, the user.
5. HIPAA / Medical Privacy Compliance
Pocket Census provides the technical infrastructure for local data management. As the user, you are responsible for ensuring that your use of the App complies with your local healthcare regulations (such as HIPAA in the US, GDPR in Europe, or other regional data privacy laws) regarding the handling of Protected Health Information (PHI).
6. Children’s Privacy
This App is intended for use by healthcare professionals and is not directed at children under the age of 13.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. Changes are effective immediately upon being posted on this page.
